This fair trade and organic blond sugar is an unrefined sugar, obtained by natural crystallization of heated cane juice. With fair trade, the small producers of the Mandu vira cooperative have moved from suppliers of raw materials to exporters of organic sugar. In connection with fair trade for more than 10 years, cane producers receive a price 20% higher than those of the local industry. The Mandu vira cooperative is the only small producer organization in Paraguay to work in a sector dominated by the sugar industry. And the profits remain in their hands. To skeptics who doubted that small producers would unite to export, Mandu vira cooperative is responding today with the creation of its own sugar cane processing plant.
