This revival of a "Dirty Dozen: Type Watch" is based on the original watches of the 1940s and 1950s, but has the advantage of being equipped with a high-performance hybrid movement. The watch also has a historically accurate canvas strap as used in the 1940s and 1950s. The final picture shows the 12 original watches made by 12 companies, MWC was not a manufacturer at this time having been founded in 1974 but this watch is very much in the spirit of the originals! MWC hybrid watches essentially combine the best of new and traditional watchmaking technology. They include features of both conventional automatic models and quartz models that result in a hybrid movement with very low maintenance. The hybrid movement has a battery that powers the movement via coils and a quartz oscillator, but the hands are mechanically operated and controlled. Essentially the movement is mechanical except it's powered by a battery and regulated by a crystal, the only thing it doesn't have is a spring. This watch offers the ideal choice for buyers who would prefer the second hand as seen in automatic watches with the hassle-free maintenance benefits of a quartz watch.
