Grown in Croatia: organic mullein (Verbascum thapsus) picked in spring and dried as whole leaves. You get broad, soft leaves you can recognise in the bag, not dust or sweepings. Mild and slightly sweet, with an earthy, hay like note and a smooth, almost velvety mouthfeel. The infusion brews pale gold. No bitterness, so mullein tea drinks easily on its own or next to stronger herbs. Brewing: 2 g per 250 ml (1 to 2 teaspoons of crumbled leaf), water at 95 to 100°C, steep 5 to 7 minutes. The leaves carry fine hairs, so always strain through a paper filter, cloth or very fine sieve before drinking. Certified organic and single ingredient: only mullein leaf, no flavourings, nothing blended in. Naturally caffeine free. Known in Spanish as gordolobo and in German as Koenigskerze. A long standing herb of European folk tradition, used today as an everyday herbal cup, as a cold infusion, or in your own blends with thyme, peppermint or lemon balm. Whole leaves also suit home herbalists who make their own preparations.
