The "mace flower", also macis or mazis, is the reddish shell of the fruit of the nutmeg tree and got its name because it was originally mistaken for the dried flower of the nutmeg tree. The fine, aromatic taste is milder than that of nutmeg and embossed, just like turmeric root, Ayurvedic teaching and their cuisine.
