Kidney Vetch Flowers

These are dried whole kidney vetch flowers, botanically Anthyllis vulneraria, a golden yellow flowering herb of the pea family. Each pack holds loose caffeine free flower heads ready to brew as a gentle herbal infusion or to use in craft and decorative projects. Nothing is added, just the pure dried blooms. Kidney vetch brews into a pale, soft yellow cup with a mild, mellow and lightly floral character and very little bitterness. The taste is delicate rather than strong, which makes it an easy caffeine free herbal tea to sip on its own or to blend with mint, chamomile or lemon balm. To prepare, add about one to two teaspoons of the dried flowers per cup, pour water just off the boil at around 95 C, and let it steep for five to eight minutes. Strain and enjoy it warm. Anthyllis vulneraria has long grown wild across European meadows and chalk grassland, and its cheerful flower heads were traditionally gathered as a simple countryside tea.
