Adapter card using a PCI Express 4.0 x4 host interface and a female U.3 SFF-TA-1001 peripheral interface, allowing a compatible U.3 SSD to be connected directly to a PCIe slot on the host system. PCIe Gen4 x4 interface operating at up to 16 GT/s per lane, for a combined advertised raw bandwidth of approximately 64 Gbps, with four PCIe lanes dedicated to communication with the connected storage device. U.3 multiprotocol architecture with advertised support for NVMe 1.4, SATA 3.0, and SAS devices; the actual operation of each protocol depends on the capabilities of the host system’s interface and controller. U.3 hot-plug support for inserting and removing the device in compatible systems, with support for management functions defined by SFF-TA-1001 and an LED indicator for visual monitoring of activity and status. The adapter provides the necessary power to the connected U.3 SSD and uses a standard PCIe card form factor; the SSD is cooled by a mechanical fan. The card features an all-metal construction.
