How to prime fluoride filters with the priming button Priming with the coarse brown washer, known as the priming button, is the method for priming fluoride filters. 1. With the caps in place, wash the outside of each of the fluoride filter elements with water and mild dishwashing soap, then rinse. A primer button is included with every purchase of fluoride filter. 2. With clean hands, remove the two caps from each end of both filter elements. 3. Place the rubber primer button (tan color) on one end of a fluoride filter and align the filter hole with the rubber washer hole.
