Organic white tea loose — PAI MU TAN: Classic Chinese white tea from the variety Pai Mu Tan (Chinese Bai Mu Dan) — harvested as young shoots with leaf bud and first two leaves, gently dried in the sun. 85 g loose sheet, EU organic certified (control body DE-ÖKO-039). Whole sheets instead of broken goods: large leaf selection with silvery leaf tips - no chopped, no broken goods, no crushed pieces. The whole leaf retains essential oils and flavors longer than sliced tea — visible at the signature white tips in the glass. Light mug, soft note: light yellow to golden yellow in the cup, soft drink with floral sweet note, slightly nutty on the finish. No tannin sharpness, no astringency pull — Pai Mu Tan is the mildest variant of Chinese teas, an entry-level tea into the world of white teas. Preparation at 70-80°C: 1-2 tsp per 200ml cup, pour over with 70-80°C hot water (no boiling water! ), leave to steep for 3-5 minutes. At higher temperatures, the tea becomes bitter. A second and third infusion is also possible. 85g makes around 30 cups. Afternoon and evening tea: classic white tea for the afternoon or as a companion for reading — the mildest tea from the classic China range. If you are looking for strong green tea aromas or tart black tea tannins, you are wrong here — Pai Mu Tan deliberately relies on restraint.
