Our organic matcha "Ichibana" (in Japanese, this means the first tea harvest of the year) is a real ceremonial grade matcha from the first picking of the youngest tea leaves. The slow sprouting of the tea plant after the winter makes the tea more nutrient-rich and ensures an L-theanine content that is up to three times higher than in later-harvested teas. L-theanine gives the Ichibancha sweetness and has antispasmodic, anti-anxiety properties. The long shading gives our Matcha Ichibana a particularly intense, deep green color and an extra high content of secondary plant substances. This matcha, as traditionally used in the Japanese tea ceremony, offers a rich, slightly bitter taste and is rich in catechins, carotenes and vitamins A, B, C and E.
