A game spanning the entire Dune saga, The Silmarillion or the rise and fall of Rome? That's Microscope. Create an epic story, hundreds or thousands of years, in a single afternoon. In each round a player will be the Lens and choose a Focus, a topic to explore. The story you are going to tell will be based on three types of events: Periods, Events, and Scenes, which players will create in turns, and to which you will give a Tone. You create independently, but not in isolation. Every event you add to the story adds to what other players have built before you. You develop from your ideas, and vice versa. Microscope is designed for groups of 2 to 5 players, but 3 or 4 is ideal. No prior preparation or Game Director required. You can play a single session, or go back and explore the same story over and over again.
