Pro silicone socks are designed to insulate the heating block and nozzle for more efficient, stable thermal performance. The professional sock goes one step further than the standard sock, covering most of the nozzle and leaving only the tip free. This makes it ideal for small nozzle sizes (0.15 and 0.25mm). Made from an inherently non-stick high temperature silicone, the Pro Sock helps keep your nozzles and block free of plastic residue. Silicone socks offer small but significant changes to make 3D printing with E3D HotEnds even easier, cleaner and faster. They cling firmly to the heating block and last longer than ever! Made from a heat-resistant, non-stick silicone material, our socks repel the accumulation of melted plastic. This really helps with sticky materials such as co-polyesters and filled materials that like to build up on nozzles. These also provide a tremendous increase in temperature stability, especially if you use high airflow cooling around the nozzle to cool the pressure. The additional cooling combined with the reduced heat radiation from the block and nozzle to the print increases the ability to print large overhangs and bridges while keeping the HotEnd temperature extremely stable. The covers simply press on the front of the HotEnd without disassembly - they fit tightly when cold pressed for the first time. When it's hot, the silicone expands to the right size to fit snugly to the HotEnd. V6 socks come in a 3 pack because they don't last forever. Depending on what materials you print and how much abuse they get, they eventually wear out the silicone. Even with sticky abrasive materials and a little abuse, they should easily last 100+ printing hours. With less sticky materials such as ABS and gentle use, you can get almost infinite life.
