Description

Amazon GALVANIC DIVISION, SELF SUPPORT: A digital isolator separates the signal path between USB side and CAN side, and a DC-DC converter on the board gives the CAN side its own 5 V and its own ground. Nothing external is needed for disconnection - no separate power supply, no ground loop, and a fault on the vehicle bus remains on the vehicle bus. Terminal pin 3 is this insulated ground; do not connect it to the ground of your PC. OPEN-SOURCE HARDWARE, ACTUALLY RELEASED: The SH-C30G comes from the CANable open hardware project — and we return our own design. The complete schematic and PCB layout of this board are in our GitHub (dsdtech-official), as editable design files instead of images, under the license CERN-OHL-S-2.0, along with the firmware images. Check, modify, build yourself. OPEN PROTOCOL FLEXIBILITY : The SH-C30G comes with candleLight firmware that speaks gs_usb — a protocol whose driver is firmly stuck in the Linux kernel. It logs in as a regular SocketCAN interface without installation. Use it with cangaroo, can-utils or python-can. Classic CAN 2.0A and 2.0B, up to 1Mbps. BUILT FOR A REAL BUS: A 4-pin 5.0 mm screw terminal instead of jumper cables — CAN_L, CAN_H, insulated ground and insulated +5 V, which can be used to supply a small knot on the bus side. A 120 Ohm terminating resistor is integrated as a switch and can be switched off on a bus that already has two. Each CAN line runs via a resettable fuse and TVS clamp. NEW FIRMWARE, FREE ON GITHUB : The SH-C30G comes with CANable's standard candleLight build, which ignores the 24 MHz quartz on the board. Our own build runs with this quartz and lets the TX and RX LEDs light up which the standard build left dark. Devices manufactured from September 2026 will be delivered; older devices can be updated via USB — free and completely optional.
