PoE (Power over Ethernet) is used to simultaneously supply power to network-compatible device via the incoming network cable - for this the device must support PoE. This pive PoE injector applies power to wires 4, 5, 7 & 8 when the DC power supply is connected, while wires 1, 2, 3 & 6 are used for data transmission. Compared to an active PoE injector, which checks the compatibility of connected devices before activating the current flow, pive PoE is the same voltage at all times. The pive PoE injector has a 5.5 mm DC socket to which an external power supply suitable for the device to be operated can be connected. A power supply is not part of the box contents, as connected devices usually are not PoE standardised and different current and voltage requirements.
